Description:
In this episode, guest Angel King (MCLC) joins the podcast to have a fun conversation about coaching between coach to coach. Her life story of suffering, perseverance and the providence of God will leave you inspired. Towards the end of the episode, we offer a peek into what a coaching conversation sounds like.
Meet Angel King:
Angel King, MCLC is a Master Life Coach. She is certified through the Board of Christian Life Coaching, an affiliate of American Association of Christian Counselors. She received her master’s credentials through the International Board of Christian Care. She is an active member of the International Christian Coaching Association. Angel is certified through Cornell University in Plant-Based Nutrition and is also credentialed in Radiology. Angel enjoyed dual careers in medicine and ministry for many years before joining her Christian Counseling and Coaching Associates of Raleigh team.
In addition to coaching, she plans to complete her Biblical Counseling certification in the next year. Angel is currently also writing a book on surrender - not as giving up, rather giving in to who you were created to be. She believes all we learn in this life, through education and experiences, are not meant for just us as individuals. She recognizes the power of intention and the great value of passing on transferable wisdom from our personal life experiences.
Angel is from Reidsville, NC and grew up in the ministry of her parents. Her dad was a local pastor and later her family were missionaries to the Cherokee and Choctaw tribes in Oklahoma. As a teenager and after losing her mom to a courageous cancer battle, Angel set the course of her life to helping others who have experienced similar losses. In addition to grief and loss coaching, Angel specializes in life transitions, goal setting, time management, and organizational challenges. She also loves working with entrepreneurs to create local, small businesses to support the community. It is said from her client reviews, she coaches with a great balance of compassion and accountability while helping her clients gain fresh perspective and renewed vision for their next steps.
Angel has always had a passion for learning and enjoys reading and even studying medical research, including Quantum Reflex Analysis. She loves spending time with her family, especially at any beach or a local coffee shop. Angel is married to her sweetheart, Rich. They live in Raleigh and have two adult children and one new grandpup.

Description:
Art of Hope interviews Leyna Doran, the Artistic Director of Ballet Hartford. Ballet Hartford is a professional ballet company located in the capital city in Connecticut. The company began in 2016 with the mission of creating art filled with the true, the good, and the beautiful. Since then, it has grown in size and carries out its vision to be "art for the city."
This episode focuses on faith and dance, and what that looks like for Leyna within the context of her role as a ballerina and Artistic Director.

About Leyna:
Born in California, Leyna Doran began her ballet training at the age of twelve at a local studio on scholarship. At fourteen, she was selected to be privately coached by Christina (Gibbs) Lyon, former dancer of American Ballet Theatre. Under Lyon’s tutelage, Doran attended American Ballet Theatre’s Detriot Summer Intensive (2006) and Kirov Academy of Ballet’s Summer Intensive (2008). A generous sponsorship to attend these intensives was provided by David Howard. In 2009, Doran was hired by the Crystal Cathedral to perform as a dancer in the Glory of Christmas productions. From 2010-2014, Doran received further training and dance education at Belhaven University. At Belhaven, she studied under the instruction of Laura Morton, Caleb Mitchell, and Ravenna Tucker. She represented the university at two American College Dance Associations (ACDA) and was awarded the Bezalel Award (2010) and Daniel Award (2014). In 2012, she accompanied a group of Belhaven students and faculty to perform throughout South Korea. Upon graduating summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Fine Arts (2014), Doran worked as a company artist with Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet. She began teaching at several ballet studios in the area alongside instructing ballet classes for different dance organizations at Yale University. In 2016, she began dancing for Vivid Ballet (Ballet Hartford) gaining opportunity to perform around the country. She performed choreography from Elizabeth McMillan, Silas Farley (New York City Ballet), Stephen Pier, Vincent Hardy (Complexions Contemporary Ballet), Steve Rooks (Martha Graham Dance Company), Michelle Thompson Ulrich (Ballet Austin), Caleb Mitchell (Houston Ballet), Miro Magliore, Victor Lozano (Julliard), and others. Most notably, Doran performed at the White House for an event held by the First Lady. In 2017, she was promoted to Principal Dancer and Ballet Mistress. Doran has been invited to teach at studios and summer intensives in PA, AL, CA, CT. She has attended Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s (CPYB) Teachers Workshop and studied Marcia Dale Weary’s syllabus under Darla Hoover, Alecia Good-Borgrove, and Rose Taylor. She continues to instruct and choreograph on a regular basis for dance schools in the Connecticut area. In 2019, Doran became Artistic Director of Ballet Hartford and has been grateful to carry the company forward with excellence and joy. Under her leadership, the company carried on through the pandemic, performing both virtually and in-person, and has enjoyed vibrant, full seasons with deep community ties.

Description:
We are kicking off the first episode of the Art of Hope podcast by interviewing my husband and best friend, Matthew Surprenant. Matthew is a bi-vocational pastor, Crossfit trainer, and a true artist at heart. In this episode we invite the listener to peer into our lives individually and as a couple, as we discuss the topic of rest.
We discuss the topic of rest in three categories – physical rest, margin and spiritual rest - and walk through the dangers of not practicing rest, as well as the benefits of prioritizing rest. Matthew shares how the biblical rhythm of work and rest is evident since creation, and refers to Hebrews 4.
We end this episode with tangible next steps for those seeking to create this rhythm in their lives, and discuss the power of small changes over time when done consistently.
